Reflection 19/9/22

I found it surprisingly easy to find woven patterns within the urban environment around where I live. I judged this largely by a presence of regular gridding or overlapping lines and shapes. These were also most commonly in metals, so I think that later it may be interesting to create a woven sample inspired by this material that is so common in our exterior environments and yet very rare in textiles as a whole.I also enjoyed editing the images to emphasise the line work, with which a monochrome colour scale helped by removing the variation and complexity that colour can create. The blue tone and heightened contrasts also aided the brutalist atmosphere of urban environments at a contrast to the softer, warmer impression that textiles often gives.
